Opus 3100 Question

Forums:

What is the best way to discharge a fully charged lithium battery to the recommended storage level of 40-50%?

I have the Opus 3100 and I put a battery in , put it in discharge mode with all default settings. After about 2.5 hrs it seemed to stop at 3.4 volts. I placed the battery on my Miboxer charger and it read 5% charged.

Is there a way other than trial and error to get them at the 40-50% level?

I thought the Opus had a “storage” option so little user programming is needed.

Thanks

I’m trying to post a picture to make things easier but I can’t figure out how to do so. I have the nitecoreums4 battery charger. And bassically I’m trying to figure out what everything means on the charger and how to properly use it. I bought the Samsung 30Q 18650 3000mAh 15A – Button Top Battery for the Astrolux mf05 flashlight. It also requires another battery that the fan Handle requires which I bought the EFAN 21700 3750mAh 40A Battery. I guess first off are these are the right types of battery’s for the flashlight to make it work properly right? I’m all knew to this so please forgive my ignorance. Also I’m trying to learn everything about the charger and how it works and what everything means on it and how fast I should charge my batteries and how to do so? If I could post a picture it would be a lot easier to let you guys know what I’m trying to learn but bassically I need to know everything about what everything on that battery charger in Particular means, like all the little abbreviations and how to use it properly. I’ve actually read the manual and understand it somewhat just not what all the words and abbreviations on the charger itself mean. Also I heard that that charger can read m(and some weird looking circle thingy) high and it’s saying the 18650 batteries are poor. Idk what this means, does it mean they are used or is it just because the particular charger I have reads them higher than normal which is what I saw on one review on YouTube? Also I have the Miboxer C4-12 on the way also. I’m holding this fives a more accurate reading of what I was talking about and just becasue I heard it was a really nice charger I think and couldn’t live without it. Will that suffice with a better accurate reading or if not what electronic device should I invest in the read the health of my batteries and the voltage or whatnot. Thanks guys.

a solid bang for the buck single pp3 charger anyone?

Forums:

I needed a new charger and have gone for the Vapcell s4+ on the strength of the recent enthusiasm for it here, its not much more than the seeming going rate for an energizer 1hr charger and it should last a few years but…what do I do for pp3 batteries?, unless of course I can do something with the USB port.

Unlike AAs and AAAs I tend to charge pp3s singly so if anyone has a good suggestion, I’d be very grateful for it…I’m very much a fan of bang for the buck over must have the best at all costs…so please fire away and thank you in anticipation.

BTW what a great forum this is.

Forums:

Hi,

I have been using liitokala lii-402 for years, but now I have some 21700 which are too long for this charger(I fit them in, but I am destroying the wrap….)

So I am looking for simple charger like lii-402, but with longer slots…

any ideas?

Batteries I use: AA/AAA, 14500, 18650, 21700

1Amp charge is enought, maybe even 2 slots should be OK,
I do not want to pay much

Thanks

Idea: USB C Power Delivery charger?

So I just ordered a powerbank that has dual 100 watt USB C PD 3.0 output ports. You can also charge it from dead in an hour by plugging a USB C 100 watt charger into them as an input port.

How sweet would it be to have a quad or even an 8 cell charger (18650, 21700, 26650, etc) that runs off of a high power USB C? I have some goofy little single cell chargers that have a micro usb port but you could really make something cool that ran off a power delivery USB C

Just a random musing Smile

I lost 3 chargers that were plugged in and need to replace them. (wet snow)

Yay for having the old basic night core Icharger from 7-8 years ago away from everything else or I would have no way to charge anything.

I am now looking for a good 4 slot and 8 slot chargers AAA, AA, the whole slew of CR123r through 26650s, and a couple 21700s Most of you have the idea.

The chargers that I lost were in the 3 year old range and I kinda miss the Xtar 4 slot charger with the readout all the bells and stuff.

I looked at some of the reviews by HKJ and he is not really impressed with many of the ones that have come out this year.

I would like to have 2A charging for all of the slots of a 4 slot charger, if possible. The 8 slot charger is a bulk charger and I understand that most of them don’t have 2A to each slot when they are full up.

Digital read outs and being able to adjust for each type of battery and slot would be preferable.

So whos and what model do you recommend?

Which charger to keep?!?

Ok so I ordered the miboxer c4-12 and I also have the nitecore ums4. The miboxer for here but just something feels off about it. Seems harder to use tho I haven’t really tried yet. Which one do you guys think I should keep, or chick knr is better? Or should I just keep. Oath of them. I kind of want to return one of them to get my money back. The miboxer was almost 50$ and nitecore was 39. The miboxer has kinda visible scratches all over the front plastic/glass cover which makes me thinks it’s used. I don’t know which one to keep or if I should just keep both. I have a total of 12 batteries I use but 3 of those are backups. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and happy holidays cheers!!!

Fenix ARE C2+ Can't charge LiFePO4 18650???

I have used this charger fine for charging 3.6V Li-ion 18650’s, but I was under the impression it could do Lifepo4 as if you look closely at the display screen it has, Li-ion, Lifepo4 etc. But when I placed some new Soshine 3.2V 18650s in it simply highlights Li-ion. So I guess not?? Any charger with a fast rate & good display that does lifepo4? ie charges to just 3.65V instead of 4.2.

thanks

A 18650 battery is charged up to 4.2V on XTAR X4, why it doesn’t show FULL?

$

Forums:

A customer told us he charged his 18650 battery up to 4.2V on XTAR X4 extended, but the charger didn’t show FULL (still at 80%) on the screen. Then, he moved the 18650 battery into another slot, and it immediately showed 100% and FULL. He asked: Shall consider the 18650 fully charged at 4.2V independent of showed percentage, or wait until the screen shows FULL? Did his X4 charger display inaccurately?

Actually, his X4 chargers still works fine. As there is 1% accuracy error of the charging cut-off voltage on each slots, the cut-off voltage (4.16~4.24V) varies slightly between different slots. If the cut-off voltage on one slot is 4.16V, and we assume his 18650 battery’s real-time voltage is 4.18V, the charger will judge the battery is fully charged and show FULL, when putting the battery in that slot. While, if he move the battery to another slot with cut-off voltage of 4.24V, the charger will charge the battery for a little longer time, then cut off. But please don’t worry, the judgement accuracy error is very small, and it will not affect the fully charging of the battery. As XTAR charger can intelligently judge a battery is full-charged or not, if you check the “FULL” on the screen, it means the battery gets fully charged.

As for the reason why the charger doesn’t accurately display the charged volume, the charger shows the percentage of the charged volume to be 20%, 60%, 80%, 100%, and it can’t show the accurate percentage like 98%, 99%. Take above customer’s question for example, his 18650 battery wasn’t charged fully, but almost (e.g. 95%). So it remains at 80%. When the battery is fully charged, the screen will show FULL and 100% in charged volume percentage.

What are your best bang-for-buck recommendations? Thanks.

My new Vapcell S4 Plus is telling me my new Energizer lithium ultimates are NiMH/Nicd. How do I find out which is wrong....I suspect the batteries and wonder if there's an easy way to test. I seeming to be having trouble including c:\charger.jpg on my pc to show the readings in case there's some telltale info there so...any help with that would be appreciated...I changed to advanced post editor, chose insert image, put c:\charger.jpg as the source with no size restrictions...broadened the little box that appeared with the mouse but....nothing. Xtar VC4S showing low MaH for 18650 batteries.

Forums:

I was testing some 18650 cheap batteries that came with a headlamp.

They were marked Mixxar and rated (?) 5000ma. I understand this is

way overrated for an 18650. Using this charger I discharged, then

recharged them. This charger showed these batteries fully charged with

~620 and 700 mah !!  Wow, like that is real low / bad. They did not hold

up for long in the headlamp either.

I decided to do the same with some new Panasonics which I discharged then

fully charged with ~1100 and ~1200 mah. Terrible. Expecting 2500+ mah.

These are NEW Panasonic NCR18650B.

Now I am wondering about the charger?? Is this considered a good Lithium battery charger??

These charge numbers sure seem low for the Panasonic also.

Stan.

Why your charger can't reach the acceptable max current in charging?

$

Forums:

We noticed some customers often asked why their XTAR chargers can’t reach the acceptable max current during charging. For example, VC2 supports 0.5A for 2 channels, but it is always charging with 0.3A; One customer even told his VC2S can only charge one battery at a time when he put two 18650 in. Was the charger broken? Actually, he plugged the VC2S into the the laptop USB port. Because the power supply hasn’t enough output, as the first picture shows below, only one battery can be charged under 1A current, and the other battery can’t be charged due to insufficient power supply.

Besides, there are some other reasons affecting the real charging current. For example, if the charging cable is too thin or too long, there exits high internal resistance loss in the charging cable, and the current through charging cable is not enough. Then, your charger can’t reach the acceptable max current. What’s more, if there are dirty particles, rust or serious friction on the adapter or USB port, which leads to big internal resistance. It may also cause low current charging.

[SOLVED] LiitoKala Lii-S1 charger says battery is full at 3.6V

Forums:

So I’ve got a LiitoKala Lii-S2 charger, and whenever I try to charge my Vapcell 1100mAh 18350 it says that the battery is full at around 3.6V.

I have to take the battery out and place it back into the charger for it to continue to charge, and it will continue for a while and then say it’s full.
Seems like I have to do this a couple, maybe three times before it charges the battery normally.

This doesn’t seem to happen with 18650s. Does anyone know why this might happen? Weak spring and bad contact?

I’m charging at 500mA which is the lowest current available.

EDIT: The reason was just the weak spring pressure for the tiny 18350.
With a quick squeeze of the negative pole after installing the battery, it worked fine.

OPUS low voltage fan

Forums:

Hello new to this forum. Have been searching for quite some time and can’t seem to find anyone with the same problems.

I recently bought a new OPUS charger because I have to many cells to proccess for a single one to handle. At the same time I also bought two 80×80×15 5V 0.1A fan for a 3D printed mod to keep the charger cool and do a steady 1A charge and discarge on all 4 cells. This seemed to work fine for like 3 – 5 cells groups/swaps. And now the fan is not working at all, not the 80mm fan or the stock one. When measuring the voltage coming from the fan header it seems all off. It’s really low and not supplying almost any voltage at all, it’s currently hovering around 1V.

AND on top of that my second modded charger just started acting up as well. it seems to throw out 12V from the fan header now. This might be the same behaviour that kill the other fan but i’m not sure. As I only just noticed it yesterday when doing my hourly checkup. Anyone got any ideas? I have seen another 3D fan mode where he uses some 12V points next to the fan and a DC-DC step down converter. But this will only my last attempt. The “new” charger is only a few weeks old and it’s not that long ago since I put it into service.

Have anyone experienced this strange behavior too or know a way to fix it? It’s strange that just swapping the fan out for a 80×80×15 5V 0.1A fan should suddently kill both of the chargers in this strange way.

Best regards!

Hi,

I’ve been browsing a few threads from a few years ago and came across many different recommendations, but most threads mentioned the Panasonic chargers from the Eneloop bundles (BQ-CC55 or BQ-CC16). Are these still the best value chargers out-there nowadays?

I just need to charge AA(A) NiMH as fast as possible while keeping them as healthy as possible.
